SMILE SQUAD SERVICES
Baby Exam
The first visit to the pediatric dentist lays the foundation for future oral care. In this visit, you will meet our team members and be introduced to the office, our policies and procedures. We take this time to get to know you and your child. Establishing rapport, confidence and trust are important.
Cosmetic Dentistry
This special branch of dentistry allows pediatric dentist to deliver smiles that are both healthy and brilliant. Problems like tooth decay or intrinsic stains can cause permanent discoloration in a child’s teeth. Injury can cause a fracture or chipping, both of which affect the shape and overall look of a tooth. Thanks to minimally invasive cosmetic dentistry, a child does not need to wait until adulthood to correct these kinds of flaws.
Preventive
A comprehensive cavity prevention program includes promoting healthy eating, daily brushing and flossing, proper use of fluoride toothpaste, and routine dental check ups. Keeping cavities at bay is a team effort between dentist, parent, and the child. Not all kids’ have the same cavity risk, so it’s important to consult with your child’s dentist about the right preventative measures. Our office typically recommends professional fluoride varnish application and sealant based on each child’s individual needs and cavity risk.
Restorative
Any time your child has a cavity or a tooth that needs extraction, restoring the tooth is a priority. Your child’s oral health depends on ensuring that all their teeth are healthy. Teeth that are lost prematurely need to be replaced to hold the space for permanent teeth to erupt. Smile Squad provides excellent restorative care for all types of situation.
Space-Maintainer
A space maintainer is an oral appliance made to “maintain” the space left behind by a missing baby tooth. They are generally made out of metal or acrylic and can either be fixed into the mouth or removable. Fixed space maintainers are cemented into the mouth, while removable space maintainers look similar to orthodontic appliances and may even have an artificial tooth. Their main function is to prevent the surrounding teeth from shifting into the space left by a baby tooth that was lost too soon.
Sedation
Dental sedation can help children feel more comfortable and relaxed during dental procedures by reducing anxiety and nervousness. There are different types of sedation for children, including nitrous oxide and oral sedation
Emergency
When you have children, you can expect to have dental emergencies. Whether it is a toothache from an infected tooth that you were unaware of or an accident during a sporting event, when that emergency arises, your child needs attention right away. Some dental emergencies may not be as urgent as others. When it comes to pain and discomfort, the faster the issue can be addressed, the better.
